little boy gone

Grandson Kyle is 13 today... sigh

I tried to write something, don't know what to say, speechless.

I had no trouble last year when he was 12, or the year before when he was 11.

He was our little boy, now he is bigger than me! He will be growing up, drifting away, not quite so anxious to play.

Looking forward to seeing you soon, maybe you can take me for a ride on the 4-wheeler! Enjoy your day, don't eat too much cake, and be careful on that new skateboard!

I hope you have a great birthday Kyle!

It's difficult to digest the concept in both directions - if he's reached this age and stage, that means you're age and stage has changed too. It sometimes boggles my mind when I realize I'm old enough to have grandchildren, let alone ones that are turning into adults!

Susan, we've tagged along with you these past several years and have followed these life-changing events in your family (because you've blogged about them).

Happy birthday, Kyle, and congratulations on becoming an official teenager. Grandma, you will have to change your mindset. He's no longer a kid, but he will tell you he's almost a man now. Before you know it, he will be driving a CAR and then you'll never see him very much. And your heart will be in your throat every time he gets in that car to go somewhere. Time marches on, doesn't it?

Hope Kyle's birthday is a very happy one for him and all his wishes come true.

BTW, the girls are going to love him.

As our family says . ."This is a Momentous day." Has it really been 13 years?

Happy Birthday Kyle!

No matter how tall they grow, they're never too big for your heart. Happy Birthday Kyle

Kylie is the same age as my grandson Brandon. The voice is changing...have you noticed?

I love that cute face :) Does he look like Grandma or Grandpa? I think I can see a resemblance to you.
They grow up so fast, don't they?
I remember thinking when Kylie, our first, turned 13 that it was 'older' than I thought it would be. And in some ways not, of course :)
A very happy birthday to Kyle, and may he still enjoy spending lots of fun times with Grandma and Grandpa.
Be careful with Grandma on that 4-wheeler Kyle!
