summer traditions

creek posing

Water - Whether you are heading to the beach, pool, river, or creek - the quest is to get wet to cool off in this heat. Sliding down the waterfalls is a great way to cool off - is it time for that family tradition again?

Camping - The great outdoors, sleeping under the stars, sitting around the campfire, making s'mores, ahhh all great family traditions. But there is a burn ban here - can you make s'mores on a camp stove?

Food - Picnics, cookouts, family reunions, any excuse to get together with family in the summertime, and they all have to include good food. Watermelon, ice cream, pies, cakes - hey you gotta eat!

Travel - Whether it is a cross-country trip or just exploring your local area, it is time to see the country! With the gas prices, local day trips may be the way to go, but they are still fun - anything to get out of the house!

Movies - Summertime is a great time to go to the movies, either sitting out under the stars at the drive-in, or enjoying the cool AC at the theatre. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End is a good summer movie, but don't leave 'til all the credits are over - a surprise awaits!

Oh, the drive-in. I gotta get to one of those soon. And an amusement park, too.

Sliding down the waterfalls sounds like the most fun! The water here is still so cold ...

Are there still drive-inns. I love them and grew up with them. We used to hide someone in the trunk to get them in free. Those high school jobs didn't leave us much money for fun.

I was wondering if your waterfall is still running over with water. Our creek dried up for the first time this month since I've lived here.

Family traditions are what I live for...along with a few other new traditions which we are creating along the way.
