the week that was...

I received an e-mail from granddaughter Madison about the upcoming Girl Scout cookie sale - complete with pictures of cookies, prices, even a paypal option for ordering. I told them no hi-tech cookie sales for me - I want to see the little girl at the door in the brownie vest and order form in hand…

In addition to the cookie sale, Madison is also excited about the upcoming father/daughter dance, the theme is sock-hop (I had to explain to her what that meant). She has the outfit all ready - poodle skirt, saddle oxfords, even sun glasses - her mom found it all on e-bay - her favorite place to shop, just like Buddy!

We are very proud of granddaughter Sarah, who auditioned and was chosen for the middle school concert band - they will traveling to play at the State Capital in February. Grandpa Buddy (former trombone player in high school) said, "Those puffy cheeks paid off!"

This is the last week on Buddy's present job project, the final inspections and punch list are almost finished. Then on to the next job, another bank to build, just like the one here at home…

I have my new laptop all loaded up and ready to work in case I get to travel with Buddy to his new job location - must check it out first for high speed internet access etc. Looking for a cat-feeder and plant-waterer…

Our youngest daughter, Carrie, is making plans for her trip to Fiji. She has her reservations and passport, and is saving money for all the 'extras' advertised on the brochure. She recently bought a couple of new bathing suits for the trip (note to Melissa - do you still have that bathing suit picture on your cell phone?) Carrie is recently single and is enjoying her independence!

On Sunday I will be tagging along with the other girls in the family for the Lady Vols basketball game at UGA in Athens. We have our orange t-shirts ready!

Melissa is busy getting organized for another season of chauffering. Like most moms, in addition to her two paying jobs, she keeps up with all the kids' schedules etc. (she is so organized, each kid has their own folder on mom's desk with everything they are up to or supposed to be doing at any point in time). Sarah in band, Madison in Girl Scouts and piano lessons, Kyle and Sarah in soccer…

Melissa is also anticipating going skydiving. Ever since her little sister went last year, she has wanted to go too. So that's what she got for Christmas, we can't wait to see her flying high!

We are enjoying our new roof, with all the rain and wind so far this winter, no worries (knock on wood). And also with all the warm weather and rain, those bulbs I planted last fall are coming up, well the ones that the raccoon didn't dig up and eat…

Well, that is the week that was here on Burnt Mountain, what's goin' on with you?
