reminiscing

my mom and her brother John

My uncle John, my mother's brother, is 88 years old and the only one left in his generation in our family. I thought of him when trying to remember some of my mom's family stories, so I contacted his daughter, cousin Cindi (thanks to Facebook!) and she is now on a mission to gather his stories. Cindi says her dad is very excited, that he loves to tell stories, and cannot wait for her to start, "He has a zillion interesting stories of when he grew up and was in the war."

She is going to visit him for Thanksgiving, with new digital voice recorder in hand. I hope they have lots of fun reminiscing and talking about the good old days. I offered to transcribe the recordings into typed words for her (that way I get to hear Uncle John's voice again and get a copy of the written stories, too!).

Preserving family history---it is important.

I think you favor your mom a bit? Also love the quilt in the header---with the light behind it, looks like stained glass!

I did this with my Auntie and MIL. It was actually a bit difficult to get them to open up and share.
