strolling

strolling
around the campground
images abound
of leisure and escape
a city of colorful tents
pitched in soft grass
bright plastic tablecloths
covering sun bleached tables
makeshift clotheslines
heavy with wet beach towels
and rows of dripping swimsuits
flip-flops of all sizes
lined up at the tent door
hammock gently swaying
camp chairs round the fire pit
firewood stacked and ready
sharpened sticks for marshmallows
chocolate bars and graham crackers
Coleman lanterns
citronella candles and bug spray
a cooler full of expensive ice
just melting away

~watercolor painting found here at Art Etc., on sale for $300

Air conditioner buzzing during the day, DVD player being used nightly, wireless internet securely used for work purposes, oven, microwave, toaster, recliner, in-house plumbing.... ahh the joys of "camping"

=)

Camping in these mountains the last day or two would have been a nightmare, with the rain and snow. I have a photo to prove it.

Nice watercolor and poem. Did you do that???

Sounds like fun! I love the painting - your work, I presume?
Keep enjoying that summer weather as we over in Australia shiver and quake!

Just call you all vagabonds. You are really having a wonderful summer, aren't you? Wish I was there.

I haven't been camping yet this summer. After reading your poem, I am longing to go!
