seasonal cheers

Remember when television shows were good? This theme song seems especially appropriate this time of year...

Makin' your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got
Takin' a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot
Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you wanna go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows your name

~theme from Cheers

Loved that show and the words to their theme song. Isn't tv sad these days?
CSI this and that it's on every night it seems. Who watches this stuff?

i grew up watching "little house on the prairie" and "the waltons", so i also lament the lack of shows that you can sit and watch as a family.

Since we got satellite, we hardly ever watch network TV except for the local news, a special program, or PBS. It is sad that all the brilliant minds in the industry are either coked out or unable to write a funny joke or an original idea. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of all the sex, violence, dirty words, exposed bodies, and lack of respect that is shown on TV today and in the movies.

Maybe I'm getting too old, but I would rather watch old movies on Turner Classic Movies (our favorite channel) than anything else.

Cheers to you also.

Yah. Miss the good shows we used to have and the theme songs too. Thanks for the reminder.

The bar I hung out at during college in Boston was the same bar that the show Cheers based its set upon. It was called the Bull and Finch back then, but is now official "Cheers."

That actually gave me a huge wave of nostalgia, just reading those words.

I agree with Janet C - it seems every program is 'CSI', 'Criminal Minds', 'Law and Order', etc etc.

I am like Motherkitty - I hardly watch network TV these days. We buy the DVDs of movies or previous TV series that we like, and watch them when we want some 'square-eye' time!

I alwsys loved the Cheers theme song and I sometimes sing it while riding my bike.

Sorry to say, but I don't have time to watch much tv anymore. I'm either outdoors & late at night I'm catching up on reading blogs.
