At the movies - Summer Style

The summer movie season is in full swing, and we are doing our part to support the industry. On these hot summer days, the air conditioning is welcome, the popcorn is delicious hot and salty - do you want butter on that? - and the movies are plentiful.

Mission Impossible III
Far out impossible stunts and action, great summer escape movie. Tom Cruise as superspy Ethan Hunt is still fine to watch, he should just stay out of the news, off the talk show couches, and only open his mouth to flash that fabulous smile.

The Da Vinci Code
True to the book, this was all it advertised to be, a thriller, mystery, and great story. Professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) follows the clues to unravel the code, and what he discovers is what all the hype is about. But as they say, any publicity is good publicity. Great shots of the Louvre and other sites in Paris and London.

The Breakup
Gary and Brooke (Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Anniston) meet and fall in love, but all the good times they have were seen in the collage of photos during the opening credits. From there it was downhill, arguing and bickering, way too much of this for a comedy! Vince Vaughn is very funny, will be looking for more of him in the future. Hope Vince and Jen have a better time together in real life.

Two more summer biggies to see:

Superman Returns
(Can't resist those men in tights)

Pirates of the Carribean 2
Johnny Depp returns as Captain Jack Sparrow!

Lady in the Water - another project of M. Night Shamalamadingdong, as he is so lovingly called by the critics. We have seen all of his movies, I wonder if he is in this one, too? And what about red, will it also be a mysteriously prominent factor?

Definitely not:
Snakes on a Plane - the title sayssss it all - no way

Loved DaVinci Code! I had read the book, husband had not, so that didn't seem to make any difference. And, darn it, I liked Tom Hanks with his professorial locks! Anxious to see Johnny Depp's new pirate flick---been a fan of his since 21 Jump Street LOL!

Susan, my friend, you are too funny and witty. Thanks for the wonderful movie reviews -- will keep these in mind when we are trying to decide what to see next. The only movie I'm really interested in viewing at the moment is The DaVinci Code. Read the book, loved it, but have heard some bad reviews. Glad you liked it. Me, I love anything with Tom Hanks in it.

Snakes on a plane??? I wouldn't watch that one on a good day, at noon, with 30 people around me. Hate snakes. As crowded as planes are these days, how would 250 people get around to avoiding snakes on a plane? I have goosebumps just thinking about this movie.

As always, I so love your posts.

I do wanna see the Johnny Depp movie...that is a new one to me...didn't know it was coming out...will need to see it!

Thanks for the reviews...I was really wanting to know what The Breakup was like, and now I know to wait til it's on DVD!

And I'm totally with you on the topic of Tom Cruise...he is far better to look at than to listen to. SHHHHHH, Tom, SHHHHH.
