college grad!

"One week until a lifelong dream is fulfilled." ~Melissa Scott, July 22, 2014

This one took me a bit by surprise. Looking back, I don't remember college graduate being a goal of young Melissa. I remember at one point she wanted to leave this small town and move to a big city to live, and we used to tell her she should be a lawyer because she liked to argue. No matter how we picture our future as a young person, inevitably life happens and before we know it we are traveling down an entirely different road.

Melissa apparently had 'college graduate' in the back of her mind this whole time. She started taking college classes at an early age - was it 16? - and continued to take classes here and there whenever she could, fitting them into her busy schedule. Then in 2012 when her two oldest kids were talking about college and completing applications, she decided the time was right to go to college, too.

She took to college like a fish to water, breezing through all of her classes, and in two short years she was ready to graduate magna cum laude, the countdown to graduation was on.

and getting closer

the graduation BLING was gathered and laid out, just waiting for the pomp

and that extra touch for the top of the cap

A proven example of It is never too late, and Just Do It, Melissa is a role model for all of her kids, and for actually everyone who meets her.

Needless to say we are all proud of Melissa!
