When Buddy saw me crocheting strips of t-shirt, he said, "What is this, waste not want not?"
Waste not want not: If we are not wasteful of our
resources that we currently have, we will still have them in the future.
You can call it recycling, reusing, re-gifting whatever, but
bottom line if it doesn't end up in the landfill it is a good thing.
Using up t-shirt scraps, byproducts of t-shirt quilt.

pretty! I usually give most of mine to DJ for shop rags but this is a better solution for the tails of shirts. Bet it is sturdy too
Hi Susan,
How wide are your fabric strips? What size crochet hook are you using? I'm feeling a rug project coming on :)
Jeanne
Crochet hook size N. Strips are about 3/4”. The heavier cotton shirts make fatter strips, so cut those a little narrower, 1/2 to 5/8. The looser you crochet, the softer the rug (my first attempt was so hard it would not have felt good to walk on).
Here is a good tutorial, especially how to join colors:

Enjoy!
