Descend the steps of the historic entrance and leave the hot muggy summer air behind. On the self-guided Discovery Tour, in just the first quarter mile you experience the vastness of the cave, the large cave passages, the rotunda, the 19th century saltpeter mining operations. A great introduction to the cave for new visitors and a great way to cool off for returning ones like me.
