hooked on reading
Thinner, lighter, faster, better - no, not my New Year's resolution, but the advertisement for the Amazon Kindle I received for Christmas!
Only 1/3" thin, holds 3500 books, battery life of 1 month, weighs 8.5 oz, has WiFi, the electronic ink looks like actual paper, is very easy to read. The Kindle store has 630,000 books, newspapers, magazine, 9000 blogs, games, crossword puzzles, many for free! Any book in the store is available as a free sample - the first chapter free to see if you like it.
You can load up personal files and documents, use the dictionary included, take notes, highlight passages you want to remember. You can change the font size for us seeing-challenged old folks.
I am old school, backward, resistant to change, if it ain't broke don't fix it, not spontaneous, you get the idea - and I have said in the past that I don't think I would like to have one of these electronic reading devices. But now that I have one… I LOVE IT! No more waiting on books to become available at the library, being on the waiting list for months, no more driving to the library only to see that nothing is of interest to me, no more overdue fees. If I see a book I want, just click and start reading in 60 seconds!
I am a convert from the old to the new, I am hooked!
