mountain quilt studio

long arm quilter
quilt/pool table
design wall
I had the treat yesterday of visiting with Peg Hasbrouck when I took Carrie's t-shirt quilt to be quilted.

Peg showed me her quilt studio complete with Gammill longarm quilting maching on 14 foot long table. It was impressive to say the least! I had never seen a longarm machine and had no idea how much space it would take. She said her husband designed the room (around the machine) and it is a wonderful work space with lots of light. She showed me the basics of how it worked and described how much she enjoyed quilting with it.

She has a design wall (a place on a wall used to hang units of a quilt, allowing the quilter to stand back and view the design before sewing). I had read about this, but also had never seen one. On hers she had a beautiful work in progress depicting life in the mountains, a project for one of her quilt groups.

It was fun to see someone with such a passion and talent for quilting, an inspiration for those of us who just dabble in it occasionally. Thanks Peg for the tour and the fine quilting you do!

Our lives are like quilts - bits and pieces, joy and sorrow, stitched with love.

Quilts are like friends - a great source of comfort and warmth.

When life gives you scraps - make a quilt.
