a simple life
I received these fresh beans the other day, I haven't seen any of these in a long time, mine come from the store in can. Stringing and breaking beans was like traveling back in time, memories of childhood when my family moved from the city to the country and we had a big garden. A peacefulness of a simpler time washed over me.
While the beans were cooking, I hung clothes outside on the line, another favorite form of therapy. Simple actions like these seem to put things into perspective in a busy life. Kind of a rural psychotherapy - a summer of breaking beans and hanging out laundry and you can handle anything!
This time of year folks that have gardens have put up all the vegetables they care to and are starting to give away the surplus. We had beans and taters and sliced maters for supper! Thanks to niece Jenny for these fresh vegetables and for the memories.
