accidental tourist

Carrie has been dropping not so subtle hints about moving to Australia, she even sold her car, paid off some bills.

She is researching the various kinds of visas - there is the vacation/working visa - which requires proof of a sizable amount of money in a bank account, proof of being able to support oneself, proof of job prospects. Their website has this heading:

Enriching Australia through the well managed entry and settlement of people.

This is a very interesting idea, unlike some countries who advertise at the port of entry, wanting the poor, the huddled masses, the wretched refuse, the homeless…

I believe that Australia might just be onto something here.

This wouldn't happen to have anything to do with the fellow who came for a visit several months back would it?

If I had to live in another country, I think it would be Australia.

So, if they get married, are you planning to travel to the land down under for the ceremony? My sister and I have a high school friend who moved to Sydney, started a company, married, and now has a strange accent (after having lived there for a number of years). Wonder what Carrie's would sound like? Would she say, g'day, y'all?

Sounds like her hints may not be too subtle after all.

Good luck to Carrie. What an adventure to be moving to a different country. From the comments sounds like there is some one else in the picture.

She's doing the opposite to what I did :) I can highly recommend Oz :) It's a great place.
Mom and dad must have mixed feelings about this adventure though, right? After, it's 12,000 miles away. I know my mother did. It's an awfully big step.

Whoops! I meant to say, "After all, it's 12,000 miles away".
Carrie is a brave girl.
