down home trimmings

Ornaments collected over the years gather to trim our tree. Some hand-made by family members over the year, Mamaw Austin's embroidery, Papaw Austin's needlepoint, Mamaw Tidwell's stuffed animals, Carrie's cross-stitch, Melissa's patchwork and scrollwork, candy canes made by girl scouts, little crocheted stockings. Aunt Bess's red sashed quilt underneath completes the down home picture.

What a beautiful tree! Love the collage of photos of your ornaments. I once again am getting so far behind in reading blogs and commenting, also in posting.

Have my old camera back and my new will be delivered this week. Yeah, haven't taken a photo in over two weeks, feels weird.

That's a lovely tree, Susan. As it seems to be with you, decorating our tree is always a wistful trip down Memory Lane, with the handmade ornaments the most special. I have homemade ornaments from my parents that are over 50 years old! And, of course, all the wonderful ones my children made over the years.

How nice you have these family heirlooms to make your tree special. Your tree is beautiful and festive. I can just imagine all of you sitting around it come Christmas morning.

Susan, I loved the way you posted the photos like polaroids, how cute. I also love my ornaments which are mostly handmade by my former students and my children.

Your tree is absolutely gorgeous. What looks to be a little Raggedy Ann ornament (?) is adorable. I love ornaments that have memories of loved ones and days gone by.
