this time last year

These were taken this time last year, when the leaves were looking great!

I drove this road yesterday and was disappointed at the lack of color this year, probably related to the drought. The timing and amount of color of the leaves this time of year is as unpredictable as it is welcome, and no two years are ever the same.

Funny, we've had tons of drought too (can you have tons of drought? maybe negative tons...). Anyway, but our fall colors are beautiful! Especially last week, when I drove across state to Jackson, TN and back to Knoxville over the weekend - across the Cumberland Plateau, into the West Tenn lowlands...just gorgeous.

Sorry you didn't get your show this year - come up and see ours!

I went to my favorite abandoned apple orchid and there was not one single apple on over a dozen trees. In part the drought is to blame, but mostly I think it's because of the warm winter and then a hard frost in spring that killed all the blossoms.

It's pretty here but nothing like last year.

thsy never got really brilliant here, either. but we drove thru a neighboring county last week and they were gorgeous. i don't know if it was the difference in elevation or what....

I do so miss the colours in America, over here in the UK they just seem to either fall off over night or turn a yucky colour of brown before falling off, nothing like the colours you've shown - thanks for sharing!

Awesome photos!!! Really spectacular colors!
After a wet summer last year we had disappointing fall color. I thought we were going to miss out again this year after a dry summer, which Ross said makes for better color, but they just took a while to turn, and eventually did give us a wonderful show.
That's beautiful countryside you live in!
