friday reflections

School spirit - Congrats to the University of Tennessee Lady Vols on finishing the season ranked #2 nationally, and good luck in today's playoff game. Coach Pat Summitt really showed her school spirit on Tuesday night at the men's game, dressing up as a cheerleader, singing the school song 'Rocky Top' - watch the video here!

Fact or fiction? I hiked some this week in the Chickamauga National Military Park - and visited the bookstore. Amongst all the official history books on the Civil War, I found the movie 'Gone with the Wind' and the book Little Women.

Road trip - Sarah made the trip to the capitol building in Atlanta this week with the middle school band. They played several songs, including 'Georgia on my Mind'. She plays the trombone just like Granpa Buddy did.

Keeping track - Kyle is working on his 4H project, he chose GPS (Global Positioning System). We were discussing all the practical uses of GPS, one being the GPS receiver in shoes (to track lost kids etc.). Melissa - mother of 4 upcoming teenagers - said she liked the shoe idea, but she wanted to be able not only to track the kids' whereabouts, but whether they were vertical or horizontal, and their body temperature… way too much information for me!

Paws and reflect - Things to think about living in a campground: Don't throw the breaker by turning on the hair dryer and the toaster at the same time. Keep the shades pulled until you get dressed. Don't park on the grass (or where the grass should be). Don't let your dogs do it just anywhere...

Never too old - Check out the world's oldest blogger - 107 year old Olive who lives near Sydney, Australia, her blog is The Life of Riley. I don't think I will be blogging at 107, but this proves there is still hope for my older sister-in-law - Kay!

Slow down - Take time to smell the roses, or as Ferris Bueller says, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it."

or from Simon & Garfunkel:

Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
