weeds or wildflowers?

One of the perks of hiking in the woods this time of year is seeing the wildflowers. The trilium and ferns are just starting to come out, the wild iris are popping up. The purple violets and the yellow spear-leaved violets are everywhere.

Diffently flowers. I have a lantana growing beside my porch and everyone wants to pull it up because they have become a weed here in Florida though they still sell them for a pretty price in the nurseries. One man's weed if another's flowers.

Spring wildflowers are such fleeting treasures -- they only last a week or two, and then you have to wait a whole year to see them again. I really miss being around the Appalachian Trail at this time of year -- I haven't seen my favorite wildflower -- Dutchman's Breeches -- since living near the trail. Do you ever come across them?

No, have never seen Dutchman's Breeches (I looked up a picture).

Seeing all these little wildflowers is certainly a perk when walking in the woods. I've always enjoyed these walks.

Georgia is a couple of weeks ahead of us...maybe three.

It's only a weed if it's someplace you don't want it.
