Holly

In the spring we are so excited by all the new blooms, the azaleas and daffodils, then summer comes with flower boxes and rhododendron blooms, and the fall leaves capture our attention for a while before they are gone. All this time the holly bushes line up at the back of the house, putting up with the hot sun and drought and rain, requiring no attention, just filling in the background. But now that all else is gone from the yard - flowers, leaves, grass - it is the holly's turn to shine.

Susan, I am just visiting your blog after you visited mine. What a joy it is to read your posts. I am very impressed w/the anniversary quilt--beautiful! Lucky you to have holly growing! Glad you are out there crocheting too.

We love holly. The only time we tried to grow some in our yard, many years ago, Winter took the plants never to return again. Husband is always talking about planting some more, and with good reason. They are a good year-round plant, with their bright, shiny leaves and beautiful red berries.

Your photography adds so much to your posts.
