Racheal is our 9 year old granddaughter. She won the recent Veterans Day Poster Contest! For this honor, she was able to leave school to attend the Veterans Day Parade and award ceremony on the town square. Here she is in front of the courthouse receiving her prize - a certificate and a $50 savings bond.
Racheal is a middle child, and does not always receive as much attention as the others, so this winning contest entry is really special! She is an avid reader and is way above her 3rd grade reading level, according to her teacher. She loves animals of all kinds and wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up, according to the last time I asked her. We are thinking of sending her up to Aunt Kay's farm for apprenticeship (Kay being the official animal caretaker of the family).
Racheal is very smart, and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for her.
