horses and bourbon

What is Kentucky known for?  Horses and bourbon! Think Kentucky Derby and Jim Beam.

On our recent trip to the Louisville Slugger factory, we came across this painted horse, a symbol of Kentucky. Like the painted bears in Cherokee, NC, and the painted buffalos in Custer, SD, we enjoyed seeing the colorful horses.

Just down the street from the Slugger Factory was a bourbon distillery, so we played tourist and took the tour. A lot goes into the making of Kentucky bourbon, a tradition brought over by Scottish settlers.

There is even a Kentucky Bourbon Trail!
