Thanksgiving anniversary

Felton and Inez Tidwell

Here are my in-laws on their 50th wedding anniversary party given by friends and family back in 1987. They were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1937. They had been married 58 years when the first one passed away. A long, happy marriage. You couldn't hope to meet two nicer people. I was very lucky to have such great in-laws.

The quilt in the background was made by us kids for the occasion (a surprise, of course). Used in the construction of the quilt are many mediums, such as patchwork, applique, embroidery, fabric paint, quilting. We had a great time working on it, even using some of Inez's fabric stash in the piecing.

What a wonderful memory quilt. A true labor of love for a lovely-looking couple. We should all be so lucky. Thank you for sharing.

I think about them a lot. Especially around the holidays. I will never forget them bringing a huge turkey to our house one Thanksgiving. We were so surprised. It was huge!! They were like grandparents to me...
