forest confections

The mountain laurel is decorated like a cake in a bakery, all the little stars and buds with flutes and ruffles and tints and hints of color in just the right places, can't you just taste the sugary sweetness!

I had mountain laurel on my hillside facing the house, when I lived atop Signal Mountain. There's none growing here, where I live now, and I miss it. Thanks for sharing yours.

Beautiful! But again, they look like something that might reach out and grab you like in AVATAR.

That is the first time I have really seen the close up. It does look like you could eat it. You are really good with the camera!!

I have NEVER seen this beautiful flower! THank you SO much for showing me... I heard about it, read about it. I just don't recall seeing it and surely I would remember. It's so ethereal. I can see little quilting flowers being inspired by this.. XO :)

Love the pictures! Mountain laurel has always been my favorite wild flower.

My son just sent me a Plumeria cutting called Laurel's Yellow. Didn't know what it was or how to plant or take care of it. I also thought it was Mountain Laurel or Bay Laurel until we were informed that Plumeria flowers are what leis are made from.

I'm hoping the flowers we eventually get from this cutting will be as beautiful as your Mountain Laurel.

What a beautiful tree. I have never seen one, but I have read about them. It does look like something on a bakery confection!
