daily distractions

I was just trying to work, minding my own business, when something caught my eye out the window. There was a hawk sitting in top of a pine tree crying out for attention...

Over the years I have seen many things out this office window (and stopped working to photograph) - bears, deer, turkeys, rabbits, birds, squirrels, a coyote once crossed the yard but I wasn't quick enough to snap his picture.

The view itself is often distracting, showy sunsets and snow falling and autumn leaves.

It takes concentration and commitment to work at home - unsupervised - and I don't always have what it takes. In addition to the view, I am easily distracted by things like Facebook and reading blogs and writing blogs and email and playing solitaire and tetris, making grocery lists, paying bills, doing laundry, the list can go on and on, you get the idea.

When I hear the ding of the IM from my boss I requesting a STAT report, I am sometimes reluctant to have to work, but must remember that is what pays the bills, must focus...

Maybe I should have an office without a window, but I don't think so, you know what they say about all work and no play!
