back to nature
I went to a local hiking supply store, North Georgia Mountain Outfitters, and signed up for their Saturday morning hike and discovered the Cartecay River loop trail. Less than 10 miles from my house and had never been there! The river was running full and clear, the mountain laurel was in full bloom along the banks. The 3.5 mile trail was in excellent shape. Lots of wildflowers, red ones, yellow ones, white ones...
Met some nice folks, enjoyed trail stories from Regina about her thru-hikes on the Appalachian Trail and Pacific Coast Trail. A nice local hike on a trail new to me! A great way to spend a Saturday.
