greener pastures

As we were eating bacon and sausage on Sunday morning, the subject of elevated cholesterol came up. A recent visit to the doc gave us this easy visual:

Cholesterol comes from cows and pigs

Cholesterol does not come from anything from the earth

This brought to mind something I had read in the past about cows and pigs and sugar levels (and since elevated glucose level was also addressed by the doc), so I searched and found it:

"Corn is for cattle and potatoes are for pigs!

These foods fatten these animals just as they fatten us. Once in our digestive tracts, they are quickly converted into pure sugar."

~according to Dr. Morrison Bethea, cardiologist and co-author of Sugar Busters! Cut Sugar to Trim Fat

So, to summarize, eat less beef and pork (dairy, butter, cheese, bacon, burgers). Eat your fruit and veggies except for corn and potatoes.

Hey, the folks (and cows) over at Chick-Fil-A have known it all along! Maybe I can get some chicken ideas from our kids and grandkids.
