Baker Creek 18 May 2008

It is the time of year when everything gets crazy - holidays, dinners, shopping, with even more stress this year with worries of finances.

To get through these hectic times, maybe we just need to visualize a peaceful place, perhaps somewhere you have been before, or a new place you would like to see.

Six months ago this week we were sitting by a rushing creek in the Canadian Rockies, just relaxing and listening to the water and taking in the beautiful scenery.

I can remember that scene in my mind when the Thanksgiving rolls burn or the gifts ordered are late arriving or while standing in line at the grocery store.

Just try it - it's free! Close your eyes, take a deep breath, ahhh, I can see it now, listen closely - can you hear the water?

For fast-acting relief, try slowing down. ~Lily Tomlin

Tension is who you think you should be. Relaxation is who you are. ~Chinese Proverb

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. ~Theodore Roosevelt

Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted. ~John Lennon

The essential question is not, "How busy are you?" but "What are you busy at?" ~Oprah Winfrey

Don't get your knickers in a knot. Nothing is solved and it just makes you walk funny. ~Kathryn Carpenter

You're right - it's approaching 'silly season', which can be hard if we're too hard on ourselves.

These days I'm trying to be more laid back about everything, and I don't feel too stressed about anything much (yet!)

I love the quotes and proverbs you have chosen. They're definitely food for thought.
