pumpkin sale

Just down the mountain and around the curve is Burt's Pumpkin Farm. In October the weekend traffic at Burt's is crazy with all the folks from Atlanta, but on a Monday afternoon it was nice and quiet.

At Burt's you can shop for the perfect pumpkin, take a hayride pulled by a John Deere tractor through the mountain trails, or try your luck at the corn maze.

Better hurry, the stock of potential jack-o-lanterns is dwindling and the prices are dropping. I wonder what they do with all those pumpkins after October 31st? Mrs. Burt will probably be making lots of pumpkin pies and pumpkin bread.

I only got two this year. One is so big that it too all the nutrients and the rest died. That's my theory. And the drought. I heard they were scarce this year, but not the case where you are. I have neighbor who grows them for market. When I go on walks I find little ones that he has thrown in the culvert!

It's a small world! A dear friend of mine who lives in Atlanta just emailed me about her outing to...yes, Burt's Pumpkin Farm. How about that!

I heard that pumpkins would be tiny and few too because of the drought, but I guess enough of them made it to market OK.

All this talk of pumpkin fare is making me get a craving going!

Look at all of those different colors of orange. Hmmm, possibilities.
