vintage reflections
Vintage Elton John tickets from September 1973 - $5.00
We saw Elton John at the old Atlanta Stadium in 1973. He literally lit up the stage in his electric coat. He rocked the house, belting out songs, dancing, and banging on the piano.
He played songs from his 1973 Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album, which we happen to have here in the cabinet (LP version of course).
We saw him for a second time a few years ago, playing with Billy Joel, dueling pianos. A great performance by both individually and together. (got the t-shirt!)
According to this week's Time magazine, Elton has a new album out this week:
"Great music is timeless. The most interesting element here is John's voice; it's a lot scruffier than you might remember. At 59, he stretches to hit the high notes he used to kill, yet the strain gives his glossiest songs something they have never had before: a little grit."
While the other kids were Rocking Round the Clock
we were hopping and bopping to the Crocodile Rock
