We attended the Spring Concert by the middle school band last night. Our granddaughter, Sarah, and her two cousins, Justin and Jesse were performing. We were impressed at the improvement over the Christmas Concert, they really sounded great!
Congrats to Justin
for winning the award for
Outstanding Trombonist
in the 8th grade band!
It was fun to watch them, all their feet tapping with the music, well most of them. Grandpa Buddy was tapping his feet right along with them, the former band geek that he is.
Buddy (pictured) started out on a 1936 trombone handed down from his mother's cousin, Sonny. Buddy played trombone in the high school marching band. He still has that old trombone, he showed Sarah how to play it before she got hers.
Four generations down from cousin Sonny are Sarah and Justin both playing the trombone, while Jesse plays the saxophone. They all did a great job!
