I saw Kermit the Frog on this morning Good Morning America. It seems he is starting out on his world tour to celebrate his 50th year in show business. His birthday is May 9, 1955, after Jim Henson made Kermit out of his mother's coat in the spring of 1955. (I hope his mother knew he was cutting up her coat!) It sounds like Kermit has a great year planned, he will be visiting Kermit, Texas, the Statue of Liberty, the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, and a Frog Leg Festival in Florida!"I will be celebrating my 50th year in show business starting this September, and that's going to be like a yearlong celebration," he said. "And it'll be a whole year filled with things having to do with being green and frogs and all that sort of stuff."
Kermit on turning 50:
"Well, you know, it's interesting being 50. You start to reflect on your life. And you look back over the years at everything you've ever done. And, with age, middle age, comes wisdom. But I have to say that I'm not sure that 50 for me is the same as 50 in people years."
We have enjoyed watching Kermit and all the gang for many years. Both Carrie and Melissa have frog collections (quite a few are Kermies), and Melissa even dressed up like Kermit one year for Halloween - wish I had a picture of that to put here!
