nature's bling

oh to be a maple leaf
born anew each spring
sun dappled and wind blown
summer shade I bring

my finest season closes
with one last colorful show
green, yellow, orange, and red
before I wither and go

the tree of life lets go my grasp
on this my final day
beside a forest hiking trail
is where I want to lay

oh to be a maple leaf
born anew next spring
looking forward to the fall
to shine as nature's bling
