U S Interior on Instagram: The dark centers and golden rays
of prairie sunflowers seem to echo the #eclipse shining
above them. Sunflowers blossom in the dunes and grasslands of the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve in Colorado in late August -- just in time to welcome the 2017 solar eclipse. Photo by Patrick

my thoughts on the great eclipse from here in Kentucky:
traffic - nada
shortage of gas and food - nope
weather - perfect
protective glasses - $2
moon pies $3
total solar eclipse - priceless!
The news in the time leading up to the eclipse was all about
traffic concerns, shortage of gasoline and food.
And the availability of special eclipse glasses. What do
Americans do if they need something? Of course they order it from Amazon, even
if you wait until late they will still ship overnight if you need it. Amazon
did indeed sell a lot of the special eclipse glasses, but suppliers were not
reputable and the glasses were not guaranteed to be safe… so Amazon did the
right thing by refunding customer's money. BUT then those hundreds of thousands
of folks were scrambling around trying to find glasses and many did not find
them. Amazon really dropped the ball on this one, better luck next time.
And what about all of those armchair shoppers who had to actually leave the house, go out and
try to find glasses, stand in lines, call friends and stores. What, do you mean
you cannot get everything you need from the internet? Who knew?
Thanks to Buddy's boss for sending us here to The Path of
Totality just in time for the eclipse.
Thanks for all the scientists who figured out down to the
exact second when and where this would take place.
Thanks to the moon for aligning perfectly with the sun and
putting on a spectacular show for all of us!
