a new year finish

University of Tennessee quilt

University of Tennessee quilt

A fun quilt for nephew Cody. No patterns involved, just gathering ideas and inspiration online. Thankfully he gave me very specific directions as to what he wanted - Tennessee and Orange. Found some UT fabric at Wal-Mart, along with the solid orange and smokey gray, it all came together nicely.

It was a fun project, sorry to see it end. I really like the way it turned out, especially the way it goes from being just flat to puffy and more like a quilt after washing. I washed the label by itself just to make sure the ink would not run, then sewed it on the quilt and washed the whole thing, to get the spray baste out and to make it look better.

After delivering the quilt, I felt kind of down last night, couldn't put my finger on it, I think it was the - after a project is finished - feeling. You know when it is so much fun working on it that you don't want it to end. Then you don't know what to do with yourself, but wait, the thing is I DO know what to do, actually a long list of things to do, but just wasn't in the mood.

Do you ever get like that after finishing a project? I hope he likes it, I think I just need closure…

Wait, a picture just came in that makes me smile:
