blowing in the wind

Keeper of the Plains

The Keeper of the Plains is a 44 ft Cor-Ten steel sculpture by Kiowa-Comanche artist Blackbear Bosin. It sits at the confluence of the Arkansas and Little Arkansas rivers in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by beautiful Riverside Park, home of the upcoming River Festival in June.

We are in Kansas now! Lots of wind. Not a hill or ocean in site. Acres of flat land, turned and ready for planting. Early morning news with crop reports and hog futures. Windy. Did I mention the wind? Tornado Alley. Looking for the nearest storm shelter. Living in a camper... woohoo! we are having fun now!

Took a brief tour of the area on Sunday evening. Wichita is the biggest city in Kansas, but is surprisingly easy to get around. Love the river park with walking trails on either side. In the downtown area, Old Town is renovated, lots of brick streets and old buildings, looking forward to taking a walking tour. There are lots of other things in the area to explore also. Let my midwestern vacation begin!
