holiday blessings

Happy Thanksgiving anniversary to my in-laws. They were married on Thanksgiving Day in 1937. They were married 58 years, a long, happy marriage. You couldn't hope to meet two nicer people.

They are pictured at their 50th wedding anniversary party given by friends and family back in 1987. The quilt in the background was made by us kids for the occasion. We had a great time working on it, even using some of Inez's fabric stash in the piecing.

I imagine the folks up in heaven are enjoying Inez's good cooking and Felton's blessings. Thanks for being such good role models for all of us kids, teaching us how marriage is supposed to be, the importance of commitment and responsibility and family, all the while enjoying life, taking care of our elders, going to church, and giving back to the community. We miss your smiling faces, your well-stocked pantry next door, Sunday dinners, and holiday get-togethers.

Happy Anniversary, wish you were still here to eat Thanksgiving dinner with us!
