coffee table filler

Patchwork Reflections - the book by Blurb.

Implementing my backup plan.

2005 book hot off the press, I started small, doing the 4 months of 2005 that I blogged. I wanted to see what it would look like, see if I liked the format I chose, how the pictures turned out, the quality of the paper, the soft cover. I like them all, so now am working on 2006. Coffee table filler, dust collector, keeps me out of trouble! (does this mean I have to get an actual coffee table?) Excerpt:

Patchwork Reflections - 2005

This project started out in September of 2005. Buddy was working out of town, and I was home alone. I spent a lot of time surfing the internet and started reading about blogs. It sounded like something fun to try - so I did, and so Patchwork Reflections began.

This was not really a daily journal, more like a repository for thoughts and pictures and song lyrics and quotes, stories about growing up, family stories, day to day activities of kids and grand kids, things I like to do like hiking and camping and reading, about teddy bears and quilts and flowers.

It turned out to be just a hodgepodge of different things, like a patchwork quilt - albeit sometimes a crazy quilt! During this process I learned that I like to write a little, like to take pictures, and learned to use the computer for something more than just work and playing games.

It is now 2010 and this little project has grown. Looking back over this body of work, it sometimes reminds me of a word quilt, varied and sometimes colorful scraps of life pieced together like patchwork - stories, thoughts, memories, pictures.

Other times it reminds me of a self-published magazine, with something different every day or so, things I want to remember, archives of life.

But more than anything else - I want to remember all of these little things, to preserve this accumulation of thoughts so that some day I can read it - that some day being when I can no longer remember what happened.

So, I decided it was time to gather all of this into the form of a book - enjoy!
