time travel

Traveled back in time last night via listening to oldies but goodies performed by the local Wayback Band.

Sometimes I wonder what I'm gonna do
'Cause there ain't no cure for the summertime blues

With the sun setting over the Cohutta mountains, horses grazing behind the stage, camp chairs and boiled peanuts, lots of oldies locals gathered to hear the sounds of old rock, blues, and country wafting on the humid summer air.

I fell into a burning ring of fire
I went down, down, down
And the flames went higher

A couple of the band members were familiar, Dan Worley, fellow church member in the way distant past - very talented, always singing and playing guitar.

Hello Mary Lou
Goodbye heart
Sweet Mary Lou
I'm so in love with you

Cliff Lancey - colorful local lawyer who delayed the start of the concert, saying his son was in the baseball playoffs, but it was obvious he just wanted to make an entrance at the last minute in his silver convertible sports car.

I pulled into Nazareth, was feelin' about half past dead
I just need some place where I can lay my head...
Take a load off Annie, take a load for free
Take a load off Annie, And you can put the load right on me

There was a lot of pickin' and grinnin' going on, the guys in the band obviously enjoy what they do, and they do it well. Saw some old friends, enjoyed the community atmosphere, the cool summer night, and of course the tunes!

Deep down in Louisiana close to New Orleans
Way back up in the woods among the evergreens
There stood a log cabin made of earth and wood
Where lived a country boy named Johnny B. Goode
