coincidences

In 1914, Mother's Day was proclaimed on this date by Woodrow Wilson. Anna Jarvis had been campaigning for this day for several years, but she was disappointed at the result, she considered the printed greeting card "a poor excuse for the letter you are too lazy to write."

Coincidence?

On this same day in 1960, the Food and Drug Administration approved use of a birth control pill. At first it was available to only married women, but in 1972 became available to all women. Whew! I just made the deadline, starting on them in 1973.

I was never a good daughter, but I did always send the obligatory card... So at least send your mother a card, maybe thank her for not using The Pill, or better yet, send an e-card like the singing baby quartet, above!
