Do you keep (outside) plants inside in the winter?
I have had good luck with my ferns that live on the deck in the summer, and this winter I have a geranium that is doing great (this is the same one I rescued from the raccoon).
They live in the laundry room, it is cool and the fluorescent light stays on all the time. Maybe the painted mural makes them think they are outside.
