Father's day Fun

The restaurant food was good, the cards were funny, the present from the girls was puzzling. Just a sheet of paper with coordinates - latitude and longitude? Luckily we had the GPS with us, so Buddy put in the coordinates and off we went, searching for... what? A present? A geocache? Not sure, just that it was about 40 miles away, in a northerly direction.

He was pleasantly surprised to arrive at the Chilhowee Gliderport, where Melissa and Carrie presented him with a gift certificate for a glider ride. When we met the owner/pilot - Sarah, Buddy told her that we had first seen the gliders while hiking and geocaching atop nearby Chilhowee Mountain. She told us that there was a cache hidden right here at the field, had we found it yet? After using our call-a-friend land line, we obtained the info needed and proceeded to find the cache. It turned out to be Buddy's 200th cache find!

After waiting and watching several gliders take off and land, it was finally his turn. We watched them soar above in the clouds, and over the nearby Chilhowee Mountain. After landing, it was apparent he had a great trip, as the smile on his face was priceless.
