At the movies

We like to watch movies (a good excuse to sit on the couch and eat popcorn). Sometimes there are some good ones on TV, sometimes at the theatre, but most of the movies we watch are on DVD. We subscribe to Netflix, a movie rental source, where for less than $20 a month, we usually get 12-15 movies. They come and go in the mail with no deadline. Do I sound like a commercial? Anyway, a fellow blogger suggested I do movie reviews, so I'll give it a shot.

King Kong - Very well done, just long. The storyline is of course known in advance, but a few surprises along the way. Jack Black has arrived.

Wedding Crashers - Very funny. Love Owen Wilson, got a good look at Jennifer Anniston's new beau - Vince Vaughn, liked him too. Not for the kiddies.

Polar Express - Beautifully done, animation taken to the next step. The expressions on the faces are amazing. Tom Hanks is great as usual.

The Goonies - A classic seen on TV, wonderfully fun adventure story - sort of an Indiana Jones for kids. Sean Astin in the lead as a young lad (later he becomes Froto's friend Sam in LOTR).

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - original version with Gene Wilder, another classic seen on TV. Seems kind of tame after seeing the new version, but tame is good.

Fun with Dick & Jane - Very funny, Jim Carrey delivered without getting too silly, he and Tea Leoni work well together.

Down to You - More for the college age, but pretty good. Freddie Prinze, Jr. was very personable, his dad would be proud. Cameo by young Aston Kutcher.
