Perry House

The Perry House, circa 1900.

This house sits a block off the square in our little town. I had to get a close shot, so as not to be distracted by the portable buildings on the right side (temporary courthouse) and the road on the left side, and pavement all around (except for the small strip of bushes you can see by the porch). It would look much better out in the country on a farm or on a hilltop overlooking the mountains. But it is here, in town, and at the time it was built, it was probably a very uptown kind of house.

There is a lot of controversy as to what to do with the old Perry House. Should we demolish it to use the space for new courthouse, save it, remodel it, or put it on the National Register of Historic Places. That is the question, what to do with the old places?
